The Tupelo Elvis Festival held annually in Tupelo, Mississippi, the birthplace of the King of Rock ‘N Roll was recently selected as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events for 2014.
The Southeast’s only international festival in honor of Elvis Presley; Tupelo, Mississippi’s native son, with the exception of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. The internationally attended festival was started in 1999 as one of the only eleven festivals within the United States officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises and includes an Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Preliminary Round as part of the event. Along with Elvis music, the Elvis Festival is known for their top country music acts that perform in Fairpark Friday and Saturday night. The Saturday night attendance had a 25% increase from the year before. Other events during the festival include a Miss Elvis Festival Pageant, Carnival Midway, Elvis Look-A-Like Pet Parade, Running with the King 5k and Fling with the King Disc Golf Tournament. Spanning six blocks of historic Downtown Tupelo, the Tupelo Elvis Festival welcome people from all over the country and world.
Since 1985 the Southeast Tourism Society has published the Top 20 Events. Each month, hundreds of the best events across the Southeast can compete to be named a Top 20 Event. Southeast Tourism Society publishes the list of winners quarterly and sends the list to over 300 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations and others, as well as 125 AAA publications. The combined circulation runs into the millions. STS Top 20 Events are also published on the Southeast Tourism Society web site at www.southeasttourism.org.
Founded in 1983, the Southeast Tourism Society is dedicated to the promotion & development of tourism to its member states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The membership includes state travel offices, attractions, hotels, motels, resorts, convention & visitors bureaus, airlines, bus companies, car rental agencies, newspapers, magazines and other travel related organizations.
The Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association is excited to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the Tupelo Elvis Festival, which will be held June 5 – 8, 2014. The preparation began shortly after the 2013 festival and there is a lot to look forward to.
The Tupelo Elvis Festival is known worldwide for the Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA) Concerts and Competition that have taken place at the Lyric Theatre in previous years. The festival staff is excited to announce the ETA Concerts and Competition will move to the BancorpSouth Arena for the 2014 festival. The new venue will allow for more fans to attend the events and support their favorite ETA’s.
2014 contestants will compete to represent Tupelo, Mississippi in the 2014 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Competition in Memphis, Tennessee. Each night former Tupelo winners will perform their tribute to the King of Rock n’ Roll. The performers include Brandon Bennett, Bill Cherry, Cody Slaughter and Jay Dupuis.
For a limited time, pre-sale ticket packages will be available at the Tupelo Elvis Festival office. These tickets will be available Tuesday, January 21st through January 31st. Walk in customers can secure tickets at 9 am central at the Elvis Festival office located at 108 S. Broadway Street in Downtown Tupelo. Customers may purchase by phone, 662-841-6598, starting at 10 am central on the 21st. Individual tickets will be available at the BancorpSouth Arena Box Office and www.ticketmaster.com February, 10th.

The top ten finalists will compete for the title of 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The group will be narrowed down to the top five, before the ultimate winner of the contest is announced.
